since several people have asked for a exit pointer what if there is something on the ball that glows or becomes brighter as you get closer to the exit, this would give you a rough idea of where the exit is and how far away while not telling you the exact location.

looks like your collision detection is checking against the center of the ball rather than the outer edges. the controls are pretty good.
