City Genesis

Build a successful city by providing shelter, food, education and other services for your citizens. Move up through larger cities with more demanding citizens until your fame leads you to become the governor of the region's capital.

Notes:
- If you find no people are moving in:
- First make sure that they are close enough to a farm (8 tiles) or market (12 tiles).
- Also ensure that there is at least one entrance (empty tile or road) where immigrants can come into your city from the edge of the map.
- Finally make sure you are providing jobs. If your unemployment rate is too high people will not want to move in.
-Also note that immigrants will come more quickly if you have a high average happiness.
- Happiness is affected by health, education, parks and fountains
- Only citizens with enough education will be able to work as doctors
- Houses can store a limited amount of food so people won't leave immediately if you destroy a farm, just provide a replacement in a reasonable amount of time.
- The options menu allows you to set absolute maxima for the number of trees in an empty tile and the number of people being shown at a time. This can help to improve the frame rate of the game.
- The game is not as complete as I would like but I'm tired of working on it for now so you may find some bugs. If you do please tell me how they happen and I will try to fix them. Thanks.

- The game speed can be changed using the '1', '2' and '3' keys.
- You can zoom in and out using the mouse scroll wheel or by using the page up and page down keys.
- You can move around by using the arrow keys or by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen.
- Building hotkeys are displayed when you mouse over their icons.
- Use the 'Esc' key to cancel the current action before selecting something else.
- You can rename cities that you are governing by clicking the name on the world map.
- To get more information about the people in a house, click on the "Residents" text on the tile information pop up
- To get information on the average happiness and unemployment rate or your citizens, click the "Population" text in the city information box
- To find the total taxable wealth of your citizens and income you will receive at 17:00 click on the "Cash" text (changing the tax rate is not yet implemented)
