This is just a bit of a feedback/learning-oriented flash project I'm uploading as I'm undecided about turning it into a full game later. With this not being a "full" game, there is just one simple enemy. There is also no death. Just mess around and give me feedback via comments.

6/11/2010 Added a low-flying enemy missile to shoot at. Target practice! Yay!
6/11/2010 Made the enemy ship return fire.
6/12/2010 Fixed the health bar. Don’t worry about dying, though, it just resets to 100 if it goes below 0.
6/12/2010 Added an awesome cooldown bar, a reload bar, less accuracy the hotter the gun gets, and an overheating function.
6/12/2010 Enemy now resets back to starting position and it’s hp resets when you “kill” it. It’s hp also resets when it goes past the left side.
6/13/2010 Added menus! Check out those quality buttons!

the shooter could me more of an automatic so you wouldnt have to click down every time you wanted to shoot...but you should make it to where the gun has to cool off so the player dosent sit there and hold the mouse button for ever, and you should put the clouds more in the backround, they get in the way when you jump.

could be really cool.
some constructive criticism:
-i like the cooldown on the jump. maybe turn that into a buyable upgradeable part to this tank thing. further upgrades means faster cooldown or longer jumping/hovering
-upgrade shop would be awesome
-do fix the layering
-maybe hold the mouse button down to charge a shot that if powerful enough goes through some enemies
-make the jumps more booster-like if that makes any sense. hold w for a little bit in order to even get into the air. and again, the booster upgrades would include faster accelerating jumps and stuff. maybe a fuel cap on the boosters if there's going to be levels.
-a cool soundtrack including badass boss music if there are to be any bosses.
- a wide variety of enemies, some with certain special effects such as lowering your weapon by 1 tier for a certain time, disabling shields, slowing you down, leeching health, etc.
- a wide variety of special weapons

good luck with the rest of the game, hope it turns out awesome

I notice that the crossbar goes behind the clouds, that can be quite annoying when enemies (mostly flying ones) come to play. And why is there a jump cooldown bar? You should add a shooting cooldown bar instead, why limit the number of jumps?

To add to my previous comment, I probably won't use upgrades in the game when I upload a finished version. I might add upgrades in a second or alternative version, but I think I'ma go with an arcade type game for my first full installment.

To quell the question of one/few comment(s), I am not limiting the number of jumps. The "jump" bar is more of an aspect of my jumping algorithm(method) used to limit the jump height and smooth the transition from upwards acceleration to downwards acceleration.
Also, I'm working on adding a reload bar, although it might not actually make it into the game due to a few difficulties modifying the "shooting" algorithm to support such.
