포털 시티의 1993년, 거스는 평범한 하루를 보내고 싶었습니다: 피자를 배달하고 남은 시간은 빈둥거리기. 하지만 삼촌 캘빈 패러데이가 이상한 기계 대회에서 1등을 할 수 있도록 도와야 한다는 사실을 알게 되면서 일이 꼬이기 시작합니다. 이 모든 것은 캘빈과 거스의 아버지 사이의 오래된 가족 싸움을 끝내기 위해서입니다.
