Indeed the controls do not work when the game is embedded in an iframe. Right-clicking the frame and selecting "open in a new tab" fixes this issue (firefox, here). I only played through the tutorial, not sure at this point where the game will bring me but it is for now rather enjoyable. Although i'm not usre why right-click is used to control the flock when left-click could be much easier.
Left click is reserved to cast psionic abilities in the next levels. By the way, your solution seems to work, thanks for the hint.

It seems you need to right-click once in the title screen for keys to work. Working on that bug right now. Thanks for the feedback.

This looks very promising, a bit like Globulation 2 but actually potentially fun and interesting. These scientists should look up "grey goo" and "War of the Worlds" on future-Wikipedia. :V I hope to see more development out of this. Now for the "but" part (Kong strips all formatting from comments, so I can't make this orderly); there is currently no way to access the lower corners of the map, the interface is always in the way. "Gene" is not a good word for something that defines all major properties of an organism, and it's really weird for a sapient organism to only have two genes. These "Earth bacteria" don't look at all like bacteria, they actually look way more alien than the actual aliens (maybe that's intentional?). I hope that there will be a way to only control a part of the flock; otherwise, there won't be much S in the RTS.
Although we stopped development on this title, I just came back to say thanks for your detailed comments. I really like to develop this to a full-fledged game someday.
