Let me clarify the upgrades for you: Begulier gets you thralls which are required for some of the "Rites". It does NOT increase the amount of blood you get. Candle and pumpkin do nothing until you make a jack-o-lantern which slowly earns you fame. The cauldron gives you acess to the "Rites" Which you need to do to complete the game and the basement key lets you use the basement and create jack-o-lanterns! Hope i helped =)

So new game plus seems to be the same thing as starting over. Even the ending is the same. No real point to playing + unless you really want to play over again as far as i can tell.
