You might wanna make it so that the shooting sound is only made when you're shooting. If you spam the shoot key, then you will see what I mean.

adding autofire when LMB is pressed would be an essential feature to add. could use some upgrades too.

It seemed to me the sounds were only of the enemy firing; and I saw targets just disappear. It'll need a lot of work, but I've seen worse efforts at this game style. I agree with kohralt's suggestions, and think you should keep the rounded look of the ship and red targets with the rest of the graphics to give an illusion of depth... those purple jobs look flat to me.
