Am I missing something? It feels like in a few f the game modes there is no way to win, because my opponent gets 3 turns on one of the areas before I get a single turn there...
Now *that* is an interesting bug. I haven't encountered that one yet. Can you tell me which variant you are playing and how you are getting the problem? (Note that if it's Notakto, both sides play as "X".) I'm working on an update tomorrow, so hopefully I can fix your problem as well.

Interesting, but the AI isn't very good. I got pretty close to winning on my first try, not knowing the rules at all and trying to figure out what I was doing.
Thanks for playing! I agree that the AI isn't great for Ultimate (or for Sudden Death Ultimate). On the other hand, it does pretty well at the Drop Three variation, and really well at the Notakto variation. (I have yet to beat the top-level AI at Notakto myself.) My main hope with this game was to share some interesting concepts that could easily be played with a friend or relative on a napkin at a restaurant :)

Okay the bug I mentioned before just happened in Standard Ultimate TTT, Ultimate TTT Sudden death, And drop3 I had first turn in a square, then my opponent got the next 3 turns in that square when I did not...
So you put down an X, and then three Os appear before you can put down another X? I can't reproduce that behavior in any version :(

Have you tried to solve this with ai?
I'm working on it. The problem isn't really the AI, as it turns out. (Well, that may be a problem, too, but I won't know until I fix the more fundamental issue.) It turns out that I accidentally created a variant where O cannot ever win if X does a good job, so no AI can solve that problem. Hopefully I'll have an updated version tomorrow of the more standard variation, which is more even-handed. Since I'm using Monte-Carlo as my AI, it should do better in a more even game. The other three variants should all be good, though, and I myself have never beaten the top AI in the Notakto variant.
