The ship size, both player and enemy, are too big for this type of game, especially considering the simple fact that the rate of fire and spread of enemy bullets does not allow for dodging most attacks effectively : you just get hit regardless most of the time.

Why.. would you make the firebutton a seperate key on the other side of the keyboard for wasd movements.. and not the mouse as is standard for nearly every top down shooting game... that literally made it unplayable for me.

So... Am I missing something with the music? It seems like i keep seeing people say the soundtrack for the last area is great, but all I hear for the last area and Final Boss is creepy space ambiance.

so classic means IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT STAGE 3 IF YOU ARE A NORMAL GAMER!? HAVE THREE DIFFICULTY SETTINGS LIKE EASY NORMAL AND HARD!!!!!!!!!

I know you can't let me sell my only weapon and be stuck without a weapon, but if I sold it I could afford a better one. You should make it so you can trade in your weapon or something.

Game starts out great. Multiple weapon options in the first area, the ability to angle weapons for added strategic depth, good music, all great. But then as the game progresses, it gets less and less fun to play. The enemies completely outscale you. You get incrementally stronger while the enemies get a noticeable spike in strength, whether through sheer numbers, toughness or raw damage, you feel weaker and they feel stronger. Also, the weapon choices diminish in variety and usefulness as the game progresses. I've made it to the 5th planet, the blackhole, and no weapon from either the 4th or 5th planet feels even remotely as effective as either rubber cannons or homing missiles from the 3rd planet.

Great game. The second to last level had me sweating a bit. Some tips for players: firepower > shields. The rubber cannons will make you feel sorry for the poor aliens all through Erebos and Coeus; put them on ~45º angles away from the ship. Swap them out for homing missiles on the fourth boss and it will crumple up and die.

the game is great and i just favorited it, but do you know that there's a very useful device, connected to almost all computers, called mouse?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
How friggin' huge is your hitbox? Here I'm expecting it to be the little blue thing in the center of the ship, but nope, apparently it's way bigger than that.

Second boss level: with those two missile-firing ini-bosses up first and no real way to cover an area in fire, this boss represents a MASSIVE ramping-up in difficulty. Okay game, but just too frustrating. 32/5

When I heard the music for the final area, I favourited this game. When I saw the final boss, I rated this 5/5 :). Epic game, I loved the parts selection. I hope you'll make another game like this with more parts, a smaller hitbox, and more epic bosses :D.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Going to echo the hit box thing. I would love to see more weapons involved. Something else to consider is buying different ships as well as weapons.

FANTASTIC GAME! what i love in games is the ability to upgrade stuff and level up. so this game is live my wet dream.
few point to improve:
1. combat mouse control
2. menu mouse control is a must!!
3. MORE PARTS :D :D
4. smaller ship so it will be easier to avoid bullets.
this game is underrated i give it 5/5!
i say make a sequel with the improvements it will be awesome

its kinda frustrating, i am stuck at the second boss, i am grinding him since an hour. by now i am level 10 and i got all weapons several times, exp gain is so low by now, i will hardly get to level 11. how will i improve now?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I don't know what everyones problem is. this game is awesome. super retro in its gameplay but with some superb modern twists. maybe i'm just a big fan of this genre but right on man 5/5. Also stop complaining about grinding its not that bad. RPG's are a million times worse.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
My recommendations to win: 1. Focus on dodging rather than killing. 2. Buy the fastest fire rate weapons for each planet first then shield. 3. When you get all 4 weapons angle your left and right wep exactly 1 notch over. 4. Buying engine isn't necessary as there isn't much of a speed difference. Good luck!

Great game except there are just too many flaws with the combat system's execution. Levels get too trigger happy and your ship is too wide to dodge most bullets. There's far too many enemies on the screen a lot of the time, and the enemies that come up behind you are impossible to avoid unless you've played the level 10 times and know exactly where they are coming from OR sacrifice a weapon to be shooting behind you, which is very painstaking to do since there are just so many enemies on the screen coming at you.
Made it half way through the third world and decided the game was too frustrating/ grind happy.
Fix a few of the issues and I will give it another shot, until then, 2/5.

There is a bug in world 3 level 3 (?) where the little brown ships that show up beneath you can get stuck on top of your ship and cause you to be unable to finish the level because there are still enemies on the screen. They do not ever blow up or die, can't be hit with anything, and just stay on top of you perfectly the whole time.

Okay... This game got too annoying for me too fast. First off, ships fly out of nowhere behind you, some so fast that if you aren't in their kamikaze strike path, then you are guaranteed to be hit. No matter how fast your ship is. Second, there are no weapons to offer protection from behind or to the sides, so if you can't clean up from destroying the enemy moving side to side, then you are guaranteed to be hit, whether its by the amount of bullets or the kamikaze ships flying at you. And seeing that the kamikaze ships don't explode on impact, then you might have them slam into you twice, which does A LOT more damage than the bullets.
So, to fix this game: Offer better weapons. Kamikaze ships explode on impact. And slow down the ships coming in, especially from behind.

that ghost disc ship keeps forming right on top of me now matter when on the screen I am it keeps kamakazing me. makes world 4.1 virtually impossible, also I notice the Lazers seem to be a bit glitch had one that stayed on the whole trip down the screen was unavoidable. On 4.2 the Sentries are just insane there is no way to avoid them and they are virtually indestructible.
seems the only way one might win this is grind until old and gray or hack.

Please make Y and Z interchangeable for all purposes. I'm using a German keyboard, which exchanges Y and Z in the layout.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The player ship should be a lot smaller or have a smaller hit box so we can move around more
And there should be more variety of parts and weapons
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Around level three i had the overwhelming desire to go kamikaze into the nearest ship. this happened just after i bought all the four upgrades available. coincidence?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Oh, and some of the boredom and tediousness might be alieviated if I could buy another weapons' slot. Just saying that the three on offer initially get really old and useless really fast...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Takes entirely too long to get underway. If you enjoy grinding the same level over and over again, though, this is the perfect game for you.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
By the 4th level of the second planet it just got stupid. The size of your ship versus the number of bullets/ships/obstacles is ridiculous.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
so uhh...yeah...1/5 for save option not working...4th time its happened now...
fix that and its 5/5 but no point in playing if you cant save
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The thing I find most limiting is not the large ship size, or the lack of agility (thought both of these are problems) but the store. I have cash to burn, but nothing new, better or more powerful to spend it on until I get to the next world. One set of upgrades per world. That pisses me off.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Too grindy, too hard to dodge much of anything, weapons too limited, upgrades far too locked down (if you are going to make a game grindy, at least let grinding get you better equipment)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I have only 2 complaints about this game and that are 1- the ship is too SLOW and 2- the hit area is the entire ship wich makes dodging with such low agility impossible even at lower levels
