Improvements in your horse won't come from training, but from selling your horse and simply buying a better horse. Races cycle through Easy ($0-$200) > Moderate ($500-$750) > Hard ($1000+) over time. Initially you'll start with the $4k horse, and enter the easy races. When you get enough to buy the $10k horse, sell your horse and trade up to that one. Enter the easy races until you can afford the $30k horse, and trade up to that one. Enter all races except the hard races (1k+ entry fees) until you can afford the $100k horse. With the $30k and $100k horses just hold down the space-bar from start to finish as the horses won't run out of stamina.

Make sure you do not run out of food or your horse will permanently lose a star in the power rating. The only use for training is to get the timing for using the crop down with the 4k and 10k horses. Don't enter races you cannot win or come in at least 3rd place.

Overall, not a game worth the time.

Nothing works right. No rhyme or reason to any part of this game.
