Also, I'd suggest that holding down the mouse means that I am holding the steering wheel, and mouse movement changes it. When I release the mouse button, I'm not touching the wheel, so mouse movement does nothing and the wheel tends towards straight ahead, just like a real steering wheel. Use spacebar or something for accelerate. Oh! How about this? the keys ASDF represent how hard you're pushing the gas pedal, so that (once you're up to speed) A's steady state is about the right speed for really sharp turns, and F's steady speed is the top speed of the car.
