I clicked faster than the blaster could shoot and the game movement lagged to be able to shoot all of the shots...

Your big puffy cartoons need more space to breathe or made smaller for more dodging area. This game might actually work better as a side scroller as well. Not horrible, but not where it needs to be for fun.
