A few realizations from my 3rd playthrough (combat-based this time): Best as I can determine, enemy fleet strengths depend on only one criteria: "How long has it been since this fleet was last obliterated?"; The Crystal enemies are both weak, and drop items less valuable than fuel.; Lastly, experience gain is quite fast up until your 18th skill point gain, which generally happens within the first 40-50 turns. After that, rate of experience gain may not halt, but completely drops off a cliff, and you'll probably never gain another point for the rest of the game.

Transporting materials is a fun way to explore the map. I wish those continued isntead of stopping after just 1 shipment. I like the updates about current events to encourage me to trade more. More of those and more damaged ships on the side would be fun.
I wish there was more instruction (How to fight pirates).
I couldn't find a use for food other than trade/selling. I think I would like to have those rationed as well so I have to multitask more.
It would be better if convicts offered me something like medicine or food, and the authorities offered me straight up cash to turn him in. That way I would have a reason to turn him in. But I like the consequences that come with letting him loose too, such as him raiding certain stations.
Thanks for the feedback! Definitely going to add some more instructions in game to explain the basics of combat, navigation, trading etc. For future updates I'd like to have a variety of jobs besides just the shipment ones, so once you complete the shipments more become available. The food also doesn't really have a use right now outside of trading. I'm planning on adding crew members that you have to find, rescue, hire etc. that will join your crew and provide certain bonus's. At that point I think having your crew actually consume food would work well. As for the convicts, its not obvious so maybe I should alert the player to that, but when you turn him in your reputation with the authorities actually increases. Other actions such as looting/reporting derelicts, killing pirates, killing trade freighters and so on also have an effect on your reputation. I might implement rewards as your reputation rises so that as you say you get cash for turning people in.

Working my way through the stuff you guys have commented on. I've slightly increased the damage of the mass driver to make up for its cost. A lot of you were upset about the lack of loot from combat so I've increased the drop rate. Fixed a bunch of bugs and an infinite cash exploit as well. Thanks for all your feedback!

also there appears to be a cap on player level that you hit almost instantly once you're in combat, while the enemies scale up rapidly with your xp through no fault of your own...
