Why not make the upgrades interchangeable after having bought them? This way one could experiment with tons of different weapons without replaying the game a dozen of times.
Also, the weapons are way to interesting to simply run back and forth and shoot stuff that comes at you from offscreen, turn the game sideways so you can walk freely in the 2D-plane, add some barriers to hide (or get trapped) behind and without much work you have another good game
You have stumbled upon our secret plans.. :) We do actually already have ideas for how we could maybe reuse the engine for a game similar to what you are describing.

Why am i doing all the work. My horse is invulnerable, can't they load that up with weapons?

A very entertaining game and just as stated by lolomator: Weapons are way too interesting to lock them. "Make the upgrades interchangable" how about we pay the price again if we want to change it? or allows us to reset the weapon getting only half the rubies back?. Descriptions are not very clear so its pretty common that you buy an upgrade and get something that you dont want. Or sometimes you get an upgrade that make you want to change your setup. So it would be nice some way to change it later. I just dont understand why talents can be reset but weapons cannot... makes no sense.

Awesome game, improvement idea... I would love to see the overall stats of each weapon, I'm not sure if the rifle has an overall higher crit or if I'm just super lucky.
If you open the pause menu there is a stats tab to the left that shows just that. :)

Great game, but some early upgrades feel a bit useless. For example, why would I invest in homing rockets when I can get automatically homing mines at the end? And why would I want to upgrade the fire rate of my sniper rifle when I can get a constant beam of energy with the final upgrade?
If you don't choose the homing upgrade the mines won't be homing, they will stay still in the air. If you upgrade your fire rate on the sniper the laser will do more damage, faster laser! :)
