Description

Alright, so it's finally done! Basically, it's a standard overhead-view shooter game, but with magic and orcs. This game took me way too long to finish.

WARNING: This is my second game ever in Flash, and I'm still learning about optimizing code. Consequently, this game might be a little on the laggy side, especially on later waves. I'm very sorry about this. Please forgive me.

How to Play

Instructions can be found in-game, but for a brief summary:

(Fun Fact: You can avoid the enemies INDEFINITELY, because they have constraints on their ROTATION SPEED. Just click to move around them in CIRCLES. they'll never catch up to you because they can't turn fast enough)

- Click on the screen or use WASD to MOVE. (Actually, clicking to move is easier. WASD doesn't work so well.)
- Use 1-5 on the keyboard to CAST SPELLS, which have COOLDOWNS and need MANA.
- Pressing space opens the STORE MENU and PAUSES the game.
- Progress saves automatically EVERY WAVE.
- MORE SPELLS are unlocked as you level up and spend points in the talent trees.
- There are 20 waves of enemies to beat. They spawn off-screen

Controls are a bit confusing. WASD for movement and numbers for casting spells? Doesn't work really well. Fortunatelly buttons can be re-assigned but... you still need to use mouse to face the right direction. WHY? So I have two hands and three places to control (WASD/Arrows + Numbers + Mouse). Doesn't seem right to me!
An easy and effective way is to make the character controlable by arrows/WASD and use the mouse button to cast the spells.

The game is actually pretty good. Enemies in earlier waves are unbelievably difficult to destroy, and until about wave 5, you have to struggle just to survive. Point out shop screen 2 better (it is almost hidden). Arcane spells need to have better, more useful effects (teleportation is useless). Skill prerequisites should be displayed. Overall skill development' chart that displays your total crit chance, burn chance etc. Implement color changes that correspond with skills selected (maybe even different ranks and titles, such as Master Pyromancer for all fire skills). Enemies need to be toned down, as I said, in earlier waves, plus, they should not attack just one part of the wall. Are of effect (which should be Area Effect) spells are totally useless as of now. Control scheme needs major work (read other comments). Otherwise, a well-made, solidly executed and perfectly featureful game that still could do with a lot of tweaks. Good job! Rating: 4/5.

it needs to let you left click to cast spells and use numpad to select them, but other than that good game

I managed to run into a huge bug issue. After my second death, the game returned to the shop (After stating I would like to start over). But when I hit exit, it read "wave 0 complete", and popped the shop up again. I then noticed each time I hit exit, the game thought I completed a wave. Thus, I completed levels 0 - 20 without firing a single spell.
I think that the second time I died, I completed the wave (the last orc probably died of fire) after my death.
A suggestion would to let the orcs attack the castle, and shoot them off in a distance.
