Needs better targeting for AI allies. They should attack the nearest enemies, not run half the screen towards target A, then if A gets killed, run backwards half the screen again towards target B, all the while ignoring enemies along the way.

I would consider giving more of a reward on the 'secondary' stages (the ones where you are timed, sudden death allies only, etc), as they are much harder and generally require more money to be invested (through upgrades and runes).

Where's the "increase allies' IQ" rune?

All of these top comments are valid, but they leave out any mention of a seemingly impossible boss. I've tried about 10 times now, with maxed characters and runes, and I've gotten no further than ~20% health remaining. I'm all for making a tough boss, but this is difficult to the point of not wanting to ever touch this game again. + if you think the developer should pay attention to this and fix the balance.

It feels like, without grinding for upgrades, the combat system is largely 'kill until you get overwhelmed, then run in circles and every so often attack behind you then continue circling the enemies'. It felt like half way into the game that something this long should have a little more variety to it.
