Add a way for them to form an organized resistance, or build safehouses, or call the cops, or be influenced by the player, or something! As is, it's not all that exciting.

Features this game needs;
Surviver groups,
ammo,
scavenging,
melee (but only as last resort),
slow fat people (boomer anyone?),
zombie groans (zombies groan when sighting a human, attracting nearby zombies),
option to play on a animated map or something,
places where humans or zombies can't walk (STOP WALKING ON TOP OF TREES, DAMN THEE!),
the ability to have more then just a few thousand zombies attacking.

The cars should move on the roads and accidents should happen involving with the zombies, more police enforcement like road blocks, helicopters and land vehicles would suffice along with more policemen. A fast forward button, better looking map, and zombie mutation would make this game more... enticing.
