It still needs a lot of work to equal the 70's version of Pong. The biggest issues I saw were when the ball hits towards the side of the paddle, it goes in slow motion...and...takes....forever....to...hit....something. Also, if you get a ball going sideways then it can be hours before its ever back in play.

Don't waste your time, even if you finish the game completely, nothing happens!

Yeah, this isn't ready for primetime yet. It's typically not optimal to have it possible to have your paddle able to completely leave the field of play or for it to be possible to have an eternity bounce possible on the first hit.

:( i hit the ball at a angle where it now was bouncing from one vertical wall to the other vertical wall. forever.

To stop the object in 2D game from going out of the screen I use Mathf.Clamp after reading the Input, so that even if your position is off-screen, the ending Mathf.Clamp makes it back at the desired location before the end of the frame. Try it.
