To improve this game, I would add all of the things that you stated in the description, along with music, score, fire rate upgrades, and stronger enemies with bullet power upgrades to go along with it.

I played this, and I am going to rate on the quality, but take into consideration that it is your first game. It is basic. After about 2 minutes it gets repetitive, it is a nice start though. 2/5!

Not bad, but needs much work before it will be good. An issue is that green bar not always match the red bar, and there's a red strip on the left. Good luck with improving ;)

I like it - the game mechanics and controls are smooth, clearly a work in progress, but definitely a good start :) I know only too well how much work it takes to get something going, but will certainly be back to see how you develop this concept further - nice one!
