Hmm. After not working for a few days, my saves now work. Just updating for if the developer reads this and it helps, I have no idea why it's happened, just that it now works

Even disabling my whole Firewall doesn't seem to rectify the problem

With all the chars vanishing bug with no new ones being allowed to start... Just happened to me, it seems that the saves get corrupted/deleted and then when trying to create a new game, it creates the folder, but doesn't create a new save, or cannot create it. Haven't checked anti-virus settings yet, but it's not to do with the flash/pepperflash thing.

@Matistadevil, kill region bosses, they have a chance to drop pets. Luck increases the chance and the quality of the pet (I think), just check the wiki. There's a link to the wiki on the instructions just below the game window.

I love the massive improvement in starting speed when you buy the 40k cannon, nice reward :D
