Hi, I’m Mick McTominay, and I work at Glasgow Roofmasters. I’m lucky to have two big passions in my life that I enjoy every single day: fixing roofs and playing video games. These things might sound completely different, but they both let me be creative, think smart, and have fun. They help me relax, solve problems, and stay excited about what I do. Let me tell you a bit about how these passions shape who I am and why I’m proud to be part of Glasgow Roofmasters.

Ever since I was young, I’ve loved being outdoors. I spent a lot of time running around the neighbourhood, watching workers fix houses, and learning how buildings are put together. Over time, I realized I could turn that interest into a real job. Working with roofs feels like a way to help people stay safe and keep their homes strong, dry, and looking good.

Now, you might wonder how video games fit into all of this. They seem like the opposite of roofing, but to me, they’re connected by things like planning, creativity, and solving tough challenges. Video games help me unwind after a long day on the roof, but they also sharpen my mind, just like my job does.

I’ve been playing video games for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I could spend hours getting lost in different worlds, and honestly, I still do. There’s something amazing about jumping into a game, exploring new places, or figuring out how to get past a tricky puzzle. Whether I’m adventuring in a fantasy story, working through brain-teasing problems, or battling in a fast-paced game, video games bring me joy. They also teach me quick thinking, teamwork, and flexibility—skills that help me at work every day.

Roofing and gaming actually have more in common than you’d think. Both require patience, focus, and the ability to make smart choices fast. When I’m repairing a roof, I need to check for leaks, inspect the tiles, and plan the safest way to fix it. In games, I do something similar—studying the situation, thinking ahead, and choosing the best move.

Strategy games especially feel a lot like roof work. In those games, every decision matters. It’s the same on a roof—every tile, every nail, every repair affects how safe and strong the roof will be. Finishing a roof repair gives me the same feeling I get when I complete a tough level in a game: relief, pride, and the joy of knowing I did a good job.

Balancing my time at Glasgow Roofmasters with my love for gaming can be tricky. Roofing means long days outside, carrying materials, climbing ladders, or replacing damaged tiles. It can be exhausting. Video games help me relax and reset. Sometimes I play an action game to blow off steam. Other times I pick a slow, thoughtful game—kind of like planning how to handle a complicated roofing job.

Another thing I love about gaming is the people I meet. Whether I’m playing online with friends or teaming up with strangers, video games give me a sense of community. Multiplayer games teach teamwork and communication—skills I use every day with my crew at Glasgow Roofmasters. Working side by side on a roof feels a lot like working together in a game toward a shared goal.

A typical day at Glasgow Roofmasters starts early. I head out with my team to check out the day’s job, ready to repair leaks, replace broken tiles, or install a whole new roof. Every project is different, which keeps things exciting. I love being outside and seeing the difference we make—helping families stay dry, warm, and safe.

After work, I chill out with a video game. Sometimes I play a story-based game on my own; other times I jump into a match with friends. It’s my perfect way to unwind and get ready for another day of hard work.

At Glasgow Roofmasters, we handle all kinds of roofing needs. If your roof is old, damaged, or just not doing its job, we can repair it, replace tiles, install gutters, or even build a whole new roof. We clean up everything afterward so your home looks great when we’re done.

Safety is really important to us. A damaged roof can be dangerous, and working on one can be risky too. That’s why we use strong tools, ladders, safety harnesses, and protective gear to keep everyone safe. We also follow Glasgow’s building rules carefully and get any permits needed for bigger jobs.

Our process is simple but detailed. First, we inspect the roof and check for leaks, weak spots, or broken tiles. If any permits are needed, we take care of them. Then we repair or replace what’s needed, clean up all the mess, and make sure the roof is strong and ready for any weather Glasgow throws at it. If you’d like, we can also recommend upgrades to keep your home even safer.

We love helping homeowners, businesses, and landlords all across Glasgow. Whether you need a small repair, a full roof replacement, or just some expert advice, we’re always happy to help. We even offer a free roof inspection to check for problems and explain your options.

My love for roofing and video games makes every day exciting. To me, roofs are like game challenges—each one is different, and solving it feels awesome. Whether I’m fixing a roof or beating a hard game level, I’m doing something I enjoy. My goal is to make sure everyone in Glasgow knows they can count on us for dependable, high-quality roof work.

Our prices are fair, because we want everyone to be able to afford good, safe roofing. Whether it’s a small leak repair or a big roof replacement, we’ll get the job done with care, skill, and a smile.

Being part of Glasgow Roofmasters feels special. I love working with my team to keep homes safe, strong, and dry. Roofs matter—they protect us, keep our homes warm, and make our neighbourhoods look great. I’m proud to help take care of them.
