I'd appreciate if selecting (or selecting as blank) by only over-rode the unchanged squared. So I could select the cells in a row I want to be X, then just click and drag down that row to fill in the rest

Go Eagle! Level 10.3500000000000001! Normally I'd round that, but that extra 10 trillionths can really make that bit of difference you need!

A perhaps useful technique is to see which pieces fit in which sized spots by the pixellation/fuzziness of the pictures. Then work from there, not moving them out of that sized spot. Reduces your options a fair bit.

@SpinelessCoward: Also in the opening scene, when the teacher yells at you to get moving (or something along those lines) they completely ignore Dave, who is standing right there.

Lvl 14 only needs 1 weapon. Flame launcher seems to annihalate everything. And as long as you pick up some occasional health and move around (to make up for the reloading stages), an easy enough hard badge.
