PSA: Easiest way to level up is by setting up a couple of tier 1 towers then just holding space and spamming enter with the 25% bonus XP skill. Losing a level maintains its base XP, and hence continuously failing a level is the best way to grind. Best done at the start of sets of 3 stages when there is an XP jump.

For the sake of humanity (androidity?): The CROWBAR is in the surface map, next to the medical supply room.

Truth be told when I logged on Kongregate today, I saw this was released and decided to 5-star it even before it loaded.
