Entertaining, if too easy and flawed. Simple way to win: be a minimalist. One Farm, no Apartments, no Skyscrapers, Wind Power, and keep your Polution at Medium or below. Then just build the minimums you need to get the most research and tax (3 labs and 6 commercials), sit back, and wait for victory. Your goals are finite: 10,030 Research Points and $1,050,000 before 2012 is a victory.

For the hard badges, you definitely get more points per shape the larger the shape is. That is, the closer to the entry. My first attempt was 286k points, playing about midway down, not hitting an reds. My second was 476k points, with a lower total multiplier and hitting 3 red shapes, played mostly near the edge.

Fun game, but kind of monotonous. Best thing you can do: use 5 Footmen at a time until you have most of the buildings, then only use Workers, Knight, Archers, Elf Archer, and Elf Warriors. No Footmen, no Guards. Helps you spam out your best units faster. Completed last boss with 100% Wall by ignoring basic units and rebuilding Elf Warriors as fast as they died. 3/5
That is, don't waste money on upgrading fighters past an extra 1 per bay. The return on investment is pitiful compared to turrets.
Just finished Hard Mode. Comment on page 9 made it rather easy, actually. Don't waste your money on fighter bays. Copying comment that helped me. Game gets 5/5. It is not the programmers fault that Kongregate chose to put an extremely hard badge on this game. Upgrade Order (Hard Mode): 1. Sell Fighter Bay (makes aiming easy) 2. Gun Fire Rate 1 3. Gun Damage Max 4. Gun Fire Rate 3 5. Cheapest Repair Drone until Cheapest is 300 * * BEAT SNAKE * * 6. Add Fighter Bays plus 1 # of Fighter upgrade to help get past mines 7. Gun Fire Rate Max 8. Add Turrets (middle, then back, then front) 9. Gun Speed Max (Can be done a little earlier) 10. Get All Fighter Bays with + 1 # of fighters to get past more mines Good Luck! Hope this helps. Repost this if it helps you get the hard badge.

Not a terrible game. Too easy though. Also, counterintuitive. Increasing your Initial Mana actually makes the game harder. Increasing your maximum mana during play makes you weaker. One of the best things I can say about the game is after the first couple minutes of a map, I can walk away and do chores while waiting for it to finish itself.
