(Part two) The mushroom will interrupt that coin toss, and the 2 minutes countdown will begin. No you won't lose the coins. At the end of the countdown, the coins will began to flow again, and just before the end, when the line drops at the bottom of the cauldron, if you push the mushroom button again, the mushroom will fly without any restriction, the 10 minute countdown will begin, and when the mushroom reach the top of the cauldron, that 10 minute cooldown will change to the 2 minute cooldown from the mushroom. The 10 minute cooldown will be erased by the mushroom. Give it a try.

I found a funny interaction with the blue cauldron. First, reach the first boss and kill it twice, for 2 mushrooms. Fill to the brim the cauldron, one click before summoning the blue coins. Then, click the mushroom button, it launches a mushroom from the bottom to the top of the cauldron, and BEFORE it reaches the top and begins the 2 minutes countdown (so, while it is flying), if you click the cauldron, it will begin to give coins.
