Beautiful game. 5/5 would tear up again

I start the game and it says I'm hungry. I click gather and it says I'm gathering 0 food a second. I'm now unable to to anything else. Is this a bad glitch or am I just missing something?

Bug found. After I smash for the first time, the space bar stops working.

I maxed everything and still can't kill that toaster. Well played, General. 5/5 stars.
