Any physics buffs please correct me, but I'm pretty sure drag is proportional to the square of the velocity. Should also decrease with increasing height due to lower air density. Under your current system drag decreases with velocity - maybe take a look at that.

Found a bug. Whenever you buy upgrades and then reset, they stay at the bottom instead of returning to the top.
