You can have a lot of fun with this without paying money; but you probably won't get into the top 50 in PVP without doing so. Which is fine for me. The starter champions are all quite enjoyable, and its possible to farm enough gold for a premium champion in a reasonable amount of time; which is fair in my opinion. Also the game is well cared for by the devs, it was much more buggy when I first played. Only criticism is the AI (and you can only play against the AI), which is most of the time just incredibly incompetent in doing anything.
