Poor Scath!
So for the alchemy, I flipped the chart 90 degrees and added the amounts corresponding to the direction of the symbol X2. It still isn't working.

I am still missing some parts of the sword.

You just missed a step: you'll have to talk to Bullock about Mentzen's game, and he'll tell you something else useful! :)
