Only issue I'm having is the character sometimes goes off by himself and won't listen to the commands for a bit. I almost died a few times because of this.

So can you not upgrade the towers in game or am I being blind and cannot find the upgrade button? Also can you just not upgrade during the first lvl?

I think you should be able to do a mission or battle even though you might miss a match. Now I know that sounds stupid but let me explain. You could make for example as a way for people who are not ready for the league yet to dodge it and amass resources so then they could be ready. Or you could always make the leagues optional till they are ready but add some penalties the longer they wait or something. Just my opinion is all.
