Finished the game! nice minigame! but whats the point with cocoon and quartz?

Quartz will be used to make silicon and high tech upgrades on the second island. Cocoons grow over time and eventually hatch into dragons (just keep an eye on the progress bar under them from time to time when you visit the wyrm pen - and make sure to leave them in the wyrm pen to grow!)
