Pain died in #449. Madara Uchiha is the leader of Akatsuki now. Akatsuki is now pursuing the Moon's Eye Plan, which is not at all what Pain was attempting to do. Nagato (aka Pain) was resurrected by Kabuto, so he's Kabuto's minion now, not the leader of the Akatsuki. Clearly you have months of the manga to catch up on.
