Anyone think a zombie breakout disease is entirely possible? We create some pretty amazing medicine, and we do have known virus’s that simply spread through blood contact.
So parts of it seem possible, it’s just the virus itself. Taking away all our brain function and changing our body. How would we go about making this, something perhaps similar to drugs that make us sit there and drool…then add aggressiveness to it.

and if it did happen, would the world really end? I mean…they are pretty slow moving and it seems ridiculous the army wouldn’t be able to quickly quarantine an area.
I also watched it too, and it made me think the same exact same thing too, except I came to the conclusion that there is no way the entire world will be affected. With advanced medicine and overly safety concious people, there is just no way. Not unless it was super efficient, and even then I don’t think just 1% will be left. That’s pretty pathetic. I mean, we survived some pretty deadly stuff haven’t we? And if something has mutated into something so deadly, the cure is probably not too far away. In case you don’t feel like reading the wall of text I was too lazy to seperate, this is my conclusion:
I think that its entirely possible. Theres already viruses on our world that can traverse from person to person by blood, and excretions, some are even airborne.
If a super mind killing virus was ever invented/formed do you think that it wouldn’t get out? Theres always leaks, even if its the tiniest one, and most of the time they’re deadly… Such as radiation..etc.. (Has anyone else seen 28 Weeks later?... thats what I’m referring to…)
But if it ever actually DID manage to happen what do you think you would do? Would you be one of those people to sit around, just waiting to get bitten, or would you be one of those people that gets up, gets a group of people, a nice hiding spot, and some weapons and wait till its all over?
Okay I was just caught at a perfect time I just watched I am Legend and 28 days later the other day (already seen 28 weeks).

The virus was airborne so yes it was super efficient. Yes the 1% part was a pit far-fetched but even if 50% of the world was night stalker and 10% was uninfected I belive it would end up in the same way with night stalkers completly wiping out most of that 10% until the only ones left are the smart and lucky.

The first leak was a bunch of animal rights activists who didn’t know what they were messing with and the second was because someone wasn’t showing any symptoms and came into human contact. The leaks would have been more controlled if people wouldn’t have just left the virus unguarded on both occasions.

It depends on the type of outbreak. If it was a traditional stupid walking dead outbreak I would take off, get a wepon perferably a hand gun (you dont need a machine gun when 1 bullet can do the job) and because It wouldn’t slow me down. Also I would grab the nearest member of the opposite sex and go have fun (no fat chicks though, that would slow me down too).
If it was a rage virus outbreak or the night stalker outbreak I would grab as many people as possible, get guns (big or small), and fight. No point in running away from something that wont care if its getting tired. The only thing that would make sense is fighting at daytime and hiding at night.
Although if everyone did die and im the only one left or impending doom is certanly on its way to my group I would not let them bite me. I would render myself useless to their dietary plans.
I Am Legend does give a good moral that people should check and “expirement” with the medicine. Good movie.
Yes, it might happen. The possibility of mutation might happen. Natural selection and viruses (Resident Evil’s viruses and I Am Legend’s viruses) can make it happen.
Even viruses are mutated. I’m sure it will be pretty soon that we will be in a real Resident Evil flick. It’s a good thing US has the 2nd Amendment :)
And a war with nuclear warheads plus mutated super-human beings may occur.
Ughhh… The article listed there was total BS. And zombies won’t actually happen based on any of those methods. I mean, for a human engineered virus to take over the host completly would be impossible. Our viruses are just altered regular viruses, which can’t actually take over your mind in the first place. Unless somebody specifically made a mind control viruses, it just won’t happen.
Zombies.. Impossible to happen. In ‘I Am Legend’ the so called “zombies” in I Am Legend were not zombies because they still retained some basic but not all human features, such as being able to set the trap that captured Will Smith. As for the ‘Resident Evil’ I would not know because I don’t know the whole story behind it too well.

If there was such a thing it would not spread as fast if you really think about it because there is no way that this whole virus would randomly come to in one person and then bite spread, bite spread. It would be a experiment from the medical industry, they are messing with everything, so the area would be a total quarantined zone and besides I was watching this this zombie movie a while back and they all decided to hide in this one place, everyone but this one girl dies and her plan from around the start was to run away on account of the slow ass zombies, so anyway at the end she runs away and lives the end.. Lame ending but its just goes to prove a point.

(2) Magically animated undead – Probably not. But Haitian Vodoun supposedly can do it.
(3) Radiation / Genetic alteration that causes brain functions to cease and leaves body acting on impulse – See (1)
(4) Corpse reanimated by electrical pulses – Yes, but really impractical and clunky, and can’t really cause much damage apart from emotional trauma.
(5) Corpse reanimated by science – No. There is no way to restart a biological machine that has stopped, barring a virus. Dead flesh cannot be regenerated.
ryan , the flesh wouldnt matter so much. we have artificial organs (hearts, im sure we can make stomachs and intestine) and zombies wouldnt nessicarily need things like livers or pancreas:
we can make it so they dont feel it.
it is possible (maybe?) to just physically take out the higher consiussness (sry bad spellage) and leave only what the cavemen did, the impulses to reproduce, eat, drink, and protect others of your own kin
