Games biting the dust

I just wanted to know, how many great franchises have suddenly lacked any “quality” games lately?

I have noticed that no kirby games have some out very recently, and it seems like pikmin might have ended. On another note, I havent seen any more news on Kingdom of Hearts 3 yet. So many dead franchises, so little time….

Yeah, it’s sad how the good ones go, only to be replaced with crappy clones. I’m relying on Zelda and Mario Party (even though the last Mario Party gamr bombed, imo) along with a few others.

If you are looking for a Kirby game, don’t worry. A new adventure game is in its early development stages. Kirby (not working title) looks to be a game that allows you to summon your copy ability as a working partner.

One of the sonic games I loved when I was a kid was the Adventure series. I’m really disappointed that there wasn’t a third one.

I’d also love to see a KOTOR 3.

yah, sonic really has been dissapointing lately, especially with the secret rings (in my opinion)

Castlevania is actually coming out with a new game soon, hopefully it will be as good as portrait of ruin (only castlevania ive ever played)

sonic needs chows, thats what made sonic adventures good.

wow, i feel stupid….At first I hadno clue what sonic adventure was, then when ppl posted something about chous, that jogged my memory.

They really do need to make a continuation of sonic adventure. Either that, or give the new up-and-coming game Sonic RPG have chou you can raise.

If anyone has any games franchises that I should add to the list, dont be afraid to tell me.

I know that Yoshi’s Island is a spin-off, right?

id have to say the warcraft rts franchise. they were some of the best rts around if you werent a serious gamer and WoW killed em…. at least theres starcraft 2 which kind of makes up for it

would anyone here call animal crossing a dead franchise, there was so much hype about AC for the wii then suddenly it stopped.

If Kingdom of Hearts = Kingdom Hearts then it’s not dead. They’re coming out with a game set after chain of memories and before II for the DS. Then they’re making Birth by Sleep for the PSP. Also, they’re making a small game for the phone, which hopefully won’t have anything to do with the main storyline.

Another game franchise that has died is Diablo. Diablo fans were waiting with baited breath for news on Diablo 3 at Blizzcon, but the news was about Starcraft II. There’s still rumors flying around about a movie though.

There’s a big difference between fan-hype and company hype. Blizz has ignored Diablo for a very long time now. From a business standpoint everyone is thinking that they’re going to do a World of Diablo and totally wreck the franchise. I hope that doesn’t happen. If it does, I really hope nobody plays it, so Blizz will get the message.

I wouldn’t say blizz has ignored d2, they obviously don’t want to make a game with a similar target demographic as wow though. The current lack of serious competition for wow ensures the wise thing for them to do is sit on the franchise. Honestly they kept updating d2, and arguably tackling hacks and duping, well past what they needed to. Blizz reps occasionally do what they can to keep the fanbase in anticipation.

well I used to love melee and when I got brawl I was diappointed. its dead IMO. I havent heard anything about a new fire emblem which I so dearly love.dead. Dragonballz used to be good but started disappointing me after tenkaichi 3. Used to like kirby(64 the crystal shards used to be my favorite) but all these ones for gba, ds just arent good. windwaker was good but phantom of hourglass sucks. hopefully they make another 3-D zelda for wii like Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess.

lol, apparantly the new Birth By Sleep has a card-based battle system too. Thank-god I don’t have a PSP.

What really irratates me about Kingdom Hearts is how they’re trying to spread the games to every platform, so they get really addicted people to go out and buy more consoles to get the games.

you know what I say to people who say sonic sucks? PLAY THE 2D GAMES! (you can’t say the series sucks without playing the original games. I like the 3d games, particulary Shadow the Hedgehog, but at a close second to them is Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the longest 2D game in the series.

I don’t have the reflexes for Sonic. :-\
