Platform Racing 2 badges

Yeah, yeah, I’m finally doing this.

Anyway, what’s everyone’s opinion? The badges in the first one were kind of weird. I could do something like that again, or I could do something a little simpler, like just using rank or time trials on one or two levels with each badge (my worry with that, though, is that certain levels will be played more than others).

Rank would be ridiculously easy to implement, but I’m worried about that being too boring.

I’ll probably do a badge for loading up a race in a full bird costume, just for fun. But the others are up in the air. So, thoughts?

Does the API support the costumes unlocked? Well, if it does, could you have a badge for unlocking all of the costumes? But that bird one sounds brilliant.

Reaching Rank 20 could be the hard badge along with beating a time in some, if not most of the levels. Reach Rank 2 could be the easy badge. I’m just throwing those out. I honestly do not mind time trial or rank.

Yeah, the API supports all the costumes. The bird costume is the only one that can be reliably unlocked, though, since its pieces are scattered across the middle levels. So I’m okay with doing a badge for that. But the other costume pieces just appear randomly, so I think it would be really frustrating if I had a badge requiring those.

Wow. Thanks a ton for finally getting around to this, greg! Well, I think the Bird badge would be cool, and I don’t mind time trial badges, but what about getting the Sun Head for an easy badge?

reaching rank 20 would be more of a grind ( im not even rank 20 ). i would say like. 16 or so. the easy badge would be like be beating mario bros remix under a certain amount of time. thanks alot for doing this greg!

Alright. Just the bird costume sounds fine. I’m think about what the badge could be. Medium? Names… ? No idea. Fastest Bird badge? Nah. Best Bird badge? Hah.

I’ve got an idea for the Bird Badge’s name. What about “Big Bird Bonanza badge”? I know it sounds corny, but hey, alliteration always works. ;) (What a way to make my 500th post)

Hopefully these badges are focused on skill and not endurance, PR2 is much better in small doses :P

I thought about doing “New York Minute” for a badge, and requiring under 60 seconds on that level, but it might be a little hard for a medium badge, and I don’t want to have a hard badge that early on. Hmmm…

I have one doubt: if you put badges Platform Racing 2, won’t the servers be totally full? Please reply to my doubt, and I hope to see badges for this wonderful game, thank you Greg.

This is the main reason I waited as long as I did, and why I don’t want to use it for a challenge.

I think the servers are pretty stable now, though. Jiggmin’s ad revenue from the site should be enough to sustain new servers if the game gets a ton more traffic. Plus, the first one was fine, so I’m pretty sure this one will be all right too.

Would seem that getting and then beating the Hat Factory would be appropriate in Hard Badge range. Takes a decent bit of time to unlock the level, and then the level itself is not the easiest thing in the world to beat when you are first trying to get through it.

edit: maybe call it the “I’m The Hatman” badge, or something… off of the Scatman song by Scatman John.

Yeah, I was thinking about this. Maybe requiring under 6 minutes or something. But then I wouldn’t be able to do timed badges for the other levels without picking and choosing, which I don’t want to do.

So one option would be something like this:

Easy: Complete any level wearing a hat (or just complete Newbieland under X easy time, reach rank 2, etc.)

Medium: Complete the New York stage in under 2 minutes? (“New York Minutes” badge?)

Hard: Complete the Hat Factory in under 6 minutes

Hard: Enter any race wearing a full bird costume.

Thoughts? If I don’t do something like this, I might just redo the same scheme I did with the first one.

That’s a decent lineup, although beating NY in under 2 minutes is really easy, so i guess the difficulty is just in getting to the stage. shouldn’t take more than 2 plays of it (if that) to do it in under 2 minutes.

Maybe you can add wearing the EXP. hat in the second hard badge A.K.A

that’s kinda medium…because you can easily get that for people who have been on long…might change that.

those badges look good. the hat factory badge name should be like “hat factory frenzy badge” (yeah i know im not good at making names..)

fireyrage people who havent played this game is going to be very hard for them because most of the body parts are random rewards on the maps.
