Check the help page at the top next time you have a question, or the read first sticky in this forum. Anyone who wants to be a mod should have at least a general familiarity with the site. Typing like an adult with punctuation, capitalization and some more thought will help as well, as will not making threads about it or promoting yourself. |
Also, asking to become a mod lowers your chances of becoming one. |
Why do people start to post this alot now? There are like 3-5 topics made of this in 1 week… |
Just be friendly and helpful to everyone; asking for it will not get you anywhere. Anyway, it is a position that carries great responsibility and dedication so you might want to consider your level of commitment first. |
or you can always bribe them. xD. jk about that. don’t go asking greg for his paypal account lol |
I take bribes. It doesn’t mean you’ll be a moderator, but I’ll take the bribes. |
What will the bribe be? |

whatever you do don’t ask, i did, and now i never will, it is a sad fact of life sorry. |
Best ways of becoming a mod is: Dont ask, be nice to others, follow the sites rules, be on quite a bit, and make sure others are doing the same |
For the simple fact that the ratio of users to mods is low, and many rooms are unmoderated. Also, people don’t bother to read the Help which outlines how to become a moderator. |
If this were the case, we wouldn’t need any more mods. No: the ratio of users to mods is high. Many users, few mods. Now, if only we didn’t need mods…damn you, Hobbes. >.> |

Why do we even reply to these topics? Besides Arcane’s redirect post of course. Anyone who doesn’t check the FAQ or ask any existing moderators about it and just makes one of these threads probably isn’t even moderator material. Sounds harsh, I know. But, I bet some of you will agree with me. |
To learn, people often need to be taught. If we refuse to teach them, we perpetuate the ignorance, particularly if they are ignorant to start off with (or something like that). Often I don’t respond or give an even shorter answer (e.g. ‘by not posting these threads’), but I choose to put something down on occasion so that we can shut down the next batch of people incapable of clicking the ‘help’ link. Also, sometimes it’s just the ‘nice’ thing to do. |
Juze, not too long ago you made a topic titled, “Juze for mod”. Rather hypocritical with this last post you made here. |
it seems stupid to me, that a guy with only 1 post and just 271 posts can want to be a mod. Its people that have replied you like me and the other 14 people that should become a mod. Being a mod is about respecting the site kongregate and always striving to make it better for the users, on the other hand kongregate isnt about all the users striving to become a mod. A great saying: With great power, comes great responsibility. Yes and i too wish to be a mod, but id hope to earn it through intelligent and thoughtful discussion not spammy forums. |
I see your point Arcane :) Maybe I’m just a little too harsh? Heh. |
What? TheBSG is a mod and he became a mod long before he reached 278 post. Post counts have nothing to do with someone qualifications for being a moderator. It would be ridiculous to have it that way, or to deter people with low post counts from being a mod. |
Well, honestly I’m just as sick of them as you are. Believe me, I did start typing something along the lines of ‘by not making threads about it’, but I just happened to change my mind due to my above thoughts. There’s been a little too much rudeness from a few active posters around here lately (for my taste) so I’d like to see that countered by some ‘I dont have to be nice but will anyway’ comments. I’m sure you’ll catch me posting something brief after this though.
Activity on the forum does not determine moderator qualifications, though it definitely can help determine what type of person they are. Some of this forums most active posters may possibly never become mods.
I don’t see why (besides those who are already mods) O.o
In all fairness, he didn’t make the thread, though don’t take that as me denying the possibility of any hypocrisy.. |
just wondering but has anyone who asked to me a mod actually gotten accepted? |
Good question. I’m going to guess no, I’ve never heard of any mod asking to be a mod and actually becoming one, and I’ve seen a lot of mods become mods. Edit:Well thinking about it we did have a thread where people could suggest people openly and people could suggest themselves so someone may have suggested themselves and be granted mod ship after they reviewed them etcetera. |
They had a thread like that? I’m surprised at that because I bet a ton of people were recommending themselves over and over again, and posting: “plz can i haz mod?”. |
if we are soposed to not say we are a mod, then why is this a topic? i mean, i want to be a mod, just like everyone else does, but at least im not begging, just asking now, i want to be a mod cus i look up to mods and want people to look up to me, like i look up to rens, charred, and ducklett.please. oh, and by the way i read the how to become a mod, because i want tobe a mod so so so bad! |
You did?
